Pupil Premium

At Warren Wood, we ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils.  We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed.  In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we also recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged.

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Department for Education to enhance the education of children from low-income families who are eligible for free school meals, children from forces families and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.

For more general information regarding Pupil Premium funding for schools, you can read more here on the government website.

In 2016, we were local award winners for providing a high standard of education to those pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium.  These awards are given at local and national level to schools who had ensured that pupils who belong to ‘disadvantaged groups’ achieved at the same level as their peers or better.  We were exceedingly proud to receive this as it showed that the strength of our commitment to invest in high quality teaching and learning had positively impacted upon the achievement of pupils.

We firmly believe that in this and will continue to provide extra support through teaching staff and teaching assistants, all of whom are highly skilled and specifically trained to support pupils through catch-up programmes and intervention groups.
