Governors
THE WORK OF THE GOVERNING BODY
The Governing Body of Warren Wood Primary School are responsible for making sure the school provides high quality education for all pupils. Governors promote effective ways of teaching and learning when setting the school aims and policies. They do this together with the headteacher, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school.
The Governing Body:
- is accountable for the performance of the school to parents and the wider community
plans the school’s future direction - selects the head teacher
- makes decisions on the school’s budget and staffing including the performance management policy
- makes sure the agreed Curriculum is well taught
- decides how the school can encourage pupils’ spiritual, moral and cultural development
- makes sure the school provides for all pupils including those with special needs
- ensures clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- oversees the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
The Governing Body consists of the following members; The Headteacher, 2 Local Authority governors, 5 parent governors, 1 staff governor and 4 Associate members. Each Governor has individual responsibilities for aspects of the work of the school for example, Safeguarding, SEND as well as areas of the curriculum.
We currently have 2 vacancies for Parent Governors as per communications sent to all parents on School Spider. If you would be interested in becoming a parent governor or require any further information, please see further information within this page or do not hesitate to contact the school office.
The Governors meet on a regular basis to focus on matters relating to school improvement and then as a whole body once a term. Governors are encouraged to challenge the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.
All Governors are offered regular training sessions. These sessions are usually delivered by a member of the Senior Leadership Team. As well as an annual programme of Governor Visits, governors are encouraged to come to school productions, assemblies, music concerts or on school trips.
The Chair of Governors meets with the Headteacher on a regular basis.
GOVERNING BODY STRUCTURE
The full governing body meet once every term to discuss matters relating to finance, security, health and safety, curriculum, safe guarding and pupil wellbeing. The sub committees of resources and teaching and learning meet once every term and report to the main governing body.
