JWC SPORTS COACHING

March 7

This mornings event was the final Primary Cross Country race of this years six race series organised by Stockport Harriers Athletics Club. The event has been brilliantly organised each time & we look forward to next years event.

Thank you to everybody who’s taken part during the last few months, we’ve had some serious mud to contend with but it’s been a blast. Thanks to all the parents who’ve kept me company at each event it’s been great to get to speak to you all outside of school.

This was the final time some of our Year 6s were able to represent Warren Wood Primary School at this particular event.

A huge well done to our Year 6s who completed 5 events or more & will receive a medal in a couple of weeks time.

March 3

This afternoon we took part in a football tournament at Aquinas College.
We took a boys team & a girls team with a mix of children from Year 4 & 5. Both teams played really well and showed true woodies spirit.
The girls team finished in fourth position out of 8 teams with the boys finishing in fifth out of ten. All the children should be proud of their performances.
A special mention to our spirit of the games winners Maisie & Robert ??
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered/came to support the teams in the freezing conditions – I’m still thawing out as I write this post.
Well done everybody ??

February 12

A lovely afternoon with four of our Year 6’s who took part in a dodgeball friendly at All Saints Primary School Marple.

This match was all about having fun & learning the rules of the game.

This was also a reward for the great attitude, focus & behaviour Sophie, Tabby, Sam & Rayhan have shown so far this year. Well done to you four.

February 11

A superb performance by our Year 5 & 6 Athletics Team this afternoon at Bramhall High School.

Having made it into the finals we knew we were going to be up against some really strong teams. The children put in some fantastic efforts on the track and improved dramatically since last time on the field events.

The whole squad showed true ‘woodies’ values and finished narrowly outside the top 3 in fourth position out of 8.

Thank you to all our parent volunteers – Mrs Royan, Mrs Higginson & Jemma/Harrison’s Grandparents & Mr Lovett for the support. We go again next month ??

& not forgetting our team sponsors: Vernon Building Society – Hazel Grove Branch.

Another extremely successful afternoon with our Year 4 Golf team.

Our Year 4’s took part in a Tri Golf competition at Marple Hall High School finishing in first position. The children won every event, every single member of the team were fantastic & all played a key role in winning this tournament.

They will now move through to the finals in a few weeks time.

Thank you to all the parents who came and supported us. A special thank you to Mrs Belsten for joining us on her day off to help guide us to victory.

January 28

A fantastic effort by our Year 5 & 6 Netball teams.

Our ‘A’ team finishing a fantastic joint third place – losing only one game in the whole tournament. A superb effort from our ‘B’ team – the majority of players involved having never played in a competitive tournament.

We look forward to playing again in a few weeks time at Marple Hall School.

Thank you to all our parent volunteer drivers today & All our support team – the children and I really appreciate it!!

January 18

Fantastic morning of cross country running with our Junior children. Great to see some new faces in the year 3/4 girls and boys age group. Well done to everyone who ran & to all the parents for coming and supporting.

Well done Lola, Amber & Jayden for your first run. Well done to Charlie in Year 6, who came 20th which is a personal best for him. Well done to Izzy who finished the race despite hating the mud & having to be carried for parts & well done to the Crimmins boys who never fail to amuse us.

We hope to see some more new faces on Saturday 8th February.

January 17

An absolutely amazing experience for our Year 1 & 2 football teams.

Our children took part in a football tournament at Manchester United’s the cliff training ground today.

The Year 1s played 6 games and won all 6 scoring lots of goals and only conceding 1. This meant overall they won the tournament.

Our year 2 team worked so hard together as a team and won their final group match 3-1. A great effort by our Year twos who’ve never played together as a team before.

The behaviour, attitude and sportsmanship shown by all the children was fantastic. Good luck to our Year 1s who have been invited to the finals at Carrington later in the year.
